I am going to visit Kolkata for the first time in a week, and was looking for travelogues when I found yours. Your description of the city is fantastic. I didn't know I could fall in love with Kolkata more. PS: Do recommend more things to do in the city!
Thank you Srinidhi. If fraying feudalism is your thing, I'd recommend walking around the Shyam Bazaar area in North Kolkata and trying to sneak into one of the rajbaris (Sovabazar, for instance, has a rich history involving Pujo and the East India Company). Have the best time! Eat well!
I have somehow managed to not visit India Coffee House despite being in Calcutta so many times! Those two paragraphs and the photo have sold me even more! Next time, Insha Allah
As someone who has had a bitter sweet relationship with the city, this post captures so much of what the city ultimately is - a time warp, engulfed between what could have and what is ..

Such a lovely comment, Arindam! Thank you so much for stopping by and reading :)
You have the lightest of touches :) Loved the evocative detail of turning to Hotel Astor as a hat tip to your younger self. This was utter joy.
High praise from you! Thank you sooo much for reading
It's always uphill when you decide to give in to the romance—how marvelous!
💙💙 How marvellous that I get to be read by youuuuu
Evoked sweet memories of a trip to Calcutta. The denim jacket almost felt like a metaphor for the city.
That trip was remembered on this one. Good times indeed. Thanks for always stopping by :)
